DID YOU KNOW?
NAGAAA, the national organization that once was home to both the Open and the Women's Divisions has split into two separate organizations.
It's true. NAGAAA, North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance will be solely retained by the Open Division. A new organization has been created by the Women's Division. As of the Winter Meetings on February 2, 2008 they will officially be know as the
Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (
ASANA). The Host City(SEATTLE) will be hosting both organizations for their World Series Championships in 2008. They are promoting these dual championships of both organizations as "Northwest Quest - Series 2008".
You can keep up to date on all of the Series 2008 activity by visiting their newly active web site at series2008.org.
Here are some exciting things in the works:
- The Mural Amphitheater at the base of the Space Needle in the heart of the Seattle Center is now secured for Opening Ceremonies.
- It's BAAAAACK! It's been a few years, but the reigning Miss GSWS is ready to give up her crown. (It's so-o-o 2004!) A committee has been set up to revive the Miss Gay Softball World Series Pageant!
- Pull out the memory box and Advil . . . the Legends Game is also coming back in 2008! Tentatively scheduled for Championship Saturday, this game will give us a chance to pay tribute to the guys and gals that help make this tournament what it is today!
- R Place will host a block party on Friday Evening at their bar in the heart of Seattle's gay district.
- Closing ceremonies will be held at the Russell Road Fields immediately following Championship games!
- Purr will host a block party in the of Seattle's Gay District on Saturday evening after closing ceremonies.
- Tuesday Night will be "OUT AT SAFECO FIELD" a night with the Seattle Mariners, sponsored by Miken. More detail on how to purchase tickets to the Mariners game on Tuesday night will be coming.
-
A potential partnership with the Seattle Storm with their game against the Houston Comets is being considered for Thursday evening of Series 2008.

*A MESSAGE FROM ASANA*
As you and your teams / leagues we get ready to go to tournaments, PLEASE use the links on the ASANA home page for air travel, hotels and auto rentals. ASANA receives a "finders fee" if you use the links in purchasing your airline tickets, rental cars or hotel accommodations. You will still get credit on all of your frequent flyer, hotel and car rental bonus programs, so this is a big win for ASANA.
Utilizing this costs you and / or your traveling teams nothing but the fees that ASANA receives will help both divisions off set expenses. The more the general membership uses this service the better for one and all.
